Rolls-Royce unveils the Spectre Bailey, a Bespoke masterpiece inspired by its owners’ cherished canine companion, featuring a lifelike marquetry portrait of the beloved dog crafted from over 180 veneer pieces.
Rolls-Royce Motor Cars presents the Spectre Bailey, a unique tribute to a long-time American couple’s beloved Labrador-Golden Retriever mix and the joyful life they share. Designed for these dedicated Rolls-Royce customers in the United States, the Spectre Bailey powerfully demonstrates the potential of Bespoke to create an unforgettable motor car that permanently reflects personal meaning.
For the Spectre Bailey, the paint specialists at Rolls-Royce’s Goodwood home developed a striking two-tone paint finish using exclusive, custom colors curated solely for the commissioning clients. The main body is finished in “Beautiful Bailey,” a color inspired by the soft fur on Bailey’s ear, applied with a Crystal Fusion finish. The upper section shimmers with a dynamic and eye-catching iridescent Crystal Fusion that shifts with the angle of the light.
The Coachline features an exact reproduction of Bailey’s paw print and is meticulously hand-painted in Rose Gold to harmonize with the Spirit of Ecstasy figurine.
The interior of the Spectre Bailey is presented in Moccasin and Crème Light leathers, perfectly complemented by Dark Spice and Casden Tan accents that evoke the color of Bailey’s coat. The wood surfaces are finished with a high-gloss Royal Walnut veneer.
At the heart of the interior is a lifelike marquetry portrait of Bailey, meticulously inlaid onto the waterfall panel between the rear seats. This elaborate composition, consisting of over 180 pieces of veneer, took over four months to complete. To capture the warmth and texture of Bailey’s fur, the artisan worked with a rich palette of natural veneers, expertly experimenting with grain direction, tone, and texture. Each veneer piece was carefully selected for its natural hue and pattern, with no staining or artificial treatments applied.
For Bailey’s tongue alone, four previously unused Rolls-Royce veneers—Purple Heart, Tulipwood, Louro Faia, and Pear—were utilized, chosen for their subtle color variations. In total, nine different veneers and 22 natural tones were employed, creating a portrait of exceptional warmth and realism.
A second tribute to Bailey is found on the passenger side of the fascia, where an elegant inlaid motif features an exact reproduction of the dog’s paw print. This design is also subtly engraved on the Bespoke Rose Gold plated treadplates that frame the door sills, revealed in a quiet moment of joy when the doors are opened.
The Spectre Bailey is a joyful expression of devotion, crafted with meticulous handiwork, elegant humor, and affection. It is a motor car that celebrates a cherished companion and the boundless possibilities offered by the Rolls-Royce Bespoke Collective.
