Citroën Racing, a name synonymous with motorsport excellence, has secured its maiden victory in Formula E. In front of a massive crowd at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, Nick Cassidy delivered a masterclass, surging from 13th on the grid to claim victory in his signature style. This historic win has propelled Citroën to the top of the FIA ABB Formula E World Championship standings. Teammate Jean-Éric Vergne further bolstered the team’s success, climbing from 18th to 8th to secure vital points, marking an extraordinary start to Season 12 for the French marque.

The FIA Formula E World Championship continues to grow in intensity with each passing season. Citroën Racing, establishing itself as a title contender, celebrated a major milestone by taking the checkered flag at the legendary Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez in Mexico City. Nick Cassidy showcased the patience, precision, and relentless race craft that have become his hallmarks, navigating through the pack from a mid-field start to the top of the podium.

His journey from 13th to 1st demonstrated not only his individual brilliance but also the competitive engineering and strategic depth of the Citroën Racing team.

Citroën Racing Surges to the Lead with 44 Points

Over the course of the Mexico City weekend, Citroën Racing collected 29 championship points, bringing its Season 12 total to 44 points. With this performance, the team has claimed the top spot in both the Teams’ and Drivers’ World Championships, marking a flawless debut season under the Citroën banner. Furthermore, Stellantis has moved to the lead in the Manufacturers’ Championship with 62 points.

This victory builds on the team’s strong opening in São Paulo in December 2025, where Cassidy secured a P3 finish. Leaving Mexico with a podium and a win in the first two races, Citroën Racing is currently the most in-form team on the grid.

Leadership in Focus

Cyril Blais, Team Principal of Citroën Racing, reflected on the achievement:

“What a magnificent weekend. This was a wonderful way to celebrate the 150th Formula E race, especially as we are a team that has won the 50th and 100th milestone races in different eras. Honestly, after qualifying, I couldn’t have imagined this result. This win is a well-deserved reward for the hard work and perseverance of every team member.”

The Driver’s Perspective

Nick Cassidy, now the championship leader, emphasized the importance of the technical package:

“It feels like a dream start to win here with Citroën. My engineer always made the right calls, and we had the strategy to match. This success belongs to the whole team—you simply cannot win this race with a bad car; the package and the strategy were perfect.”

Jean-Éric Vergne, who secured 8th place despite starting 18th, added:

“Moving from 18th to 8th on a track where overtaking is notoriously difficult was a strong performance. I am incredibly happy to contribute points and see Nick take Citroën‘s historic first win.”
