In key European countries, we ranked 3rd in Italy, Romania, Portugal, and Switzerland, and among the top 4 in France and Austria.”
Expanding Market Leadership in 2025
Karsan aims to strengthen its position in the electric public transportation sector in 2025, targeting:
✅ €350–400 million in total revenue
✅ 700 electric vehicle sales
✅ A global electric fleet of 2,200 vehicles
Okan Baş emphasized the company’s commitment to innovation, stating, “2025 will be a year of expansion in electric, autonomous, and hydrogen-powered mobility. We continue investing in new products and advanced technologies to maintain our leadership position.”
A Rapidly Growing Electric Vehicle Leader

Karsan first entered the electric market in 2018 with the 6-meter e-JEST and quickly expanded its range to include fully electric models from 6 to 18 meters. The company’s electric vehicle sales have grown from just 66 units in 2019 to 540 units in 2024, marking a remarkable transformation. Today, Karsan operates in 27 countries across 3 continents, with over 1,500 electric buses in service.
Moreover, Karsan played a key role in Turkey’s electric vehicle exports, accounting for 82% of the country’s total exports in this segment. The company is also expanding production capacity, having resumed three-shift operations in 2023 and planning to sustain an annual output of 55,000 vehicles until 2028.
Breaking New Ground in Autonomous and Hydrogen Mobility

Karsan has also made strides in autonomous mobility, becoming a pioneer in Level 4 fully autonomous electric buses in both North America and Europe. The Karsan Autonomous e-ATAK first launched in Turkey and later began passenger transport operations in Norway.
Additionally, Karsan is investing in hydrogen fuel cell technology and has partnered with Toyota to develop zero-emission hydrogen-powered buses. CEO Okan Baş emphasized, “This partnership strengthens our vision of leading the transition to sustainable mobility.”
Global Expansion and Future Vision
Karsan is rapidly expanding beyond Europe, entering markets in Japan and the UK while continuing 11 autonomous projects across 10 countries in Europe and the US. In Turkey, the company remains a key player in electrifying public transportation, with 62 e-ATA buses set for delivery to Kahramanmaraş, Mersin, and Gaziantep in late 2025.
The Road Ahead
Okan Baş concluded, “Karsan is no longer just following trends—we are shaping the future of mobility. With 60 years of experience, we continue to evolve, always staying one step ahead in electric, hydrogen, and autonomous transportation.”
