French automaker Citroën has officially launched production of the new C3 at the Stellantis facility in Kragujevac, Serbia. This strategic move expands Citroën’s production capacity and complements the existing manufacturing operations in Trnava, Slovakia, enabling a smoother and broader rollout across Europe. The new Serbian assembly line reinforces Citroën‘s commitment to offering affordable electric mobility in the heart of Europe and marks a strong start for the C3’s commercial journey.

The new C3 has already seen significant success in the European market. In the first quarter of 2025, it ranked second in EV sales in France and third in overall passenger car sales in both France and Italy. Since its launch, the C3 has received over 130,000 orders, with electric variants accounting for 30% of all sales—highlighting the strong market response to its blend of electrification, comfort, and everyday practicality.

High-Tech Production and Affordable Electric Innovation

The Kragujevac plant, located in central Serbia, now serves as a key manufacturing site for Citroën’s best-selling model. The facility has undergone a full modernization between 2022 and 2024 as part of a partnership between Stellantis and the Serbian Ministry of Economy, adapting it for Smart Car Platform production and EV manufacturing. The plant employs over 1,000 people and features advanced robotics and automated production lines, ensuring high-quality output and efficiency.

This industrial upgrade supports Citroën’s mission to produce versatile, compact, and budget-friendly vehicles within Europe, paving the way for a stronger presence in the competitive compact car segment.

Designed for Affordability Without Compromise

From its streamlined design to its Smart Car architecture, the new C3 is built to make electrified mobility accessible without sacrificing comfort, style, or functionality. It is available in multiple powertrains, including a fully electric version with over 320 km WLTP range and a versatile, user-friendly hybrid variant.

As the fourth generation of Citroën’s iconic C3, which has sold over 5.6 million units globally, the new model introduces enhanced ride quality thanks to Citroën Advanced Comfort® suspension, reimagined Advanced Comfort® seats, and the new C-Zen Lounge dashboard design. Despite its SUV-inspired styling, the car retains its compact dimensions and agility, while offering more interior space and easier cabin access.

Market Momentum and Future Expansion

The success of the new C3 is already being felt across Europe, with its launch in late 2024 generating strong pre-orders and market demand. The addition of Serbian production supports the Trnava plant in meeting high customer interest, including demand for the C3 Aircross, which is also produced in Slovakia.

With a clear focus on making sustainable mobility more accessible, Citroën’s latest move reinforces its leadership in innovative, practical, and affordable electrified vehicles tailored for modern urban and suburban lifestyles.
