DHL Supply Chain has strengthened its collaboration with HappyRobot to automate routine communication across its global operations. This partnership has resulted in measurable impacts on operations, leading to greater efficiency, better customer centricity, and happier teams.

DHL Supply Chain, part of the world’s leading logistics firm DHL Group, is accelerating its corporate Artificial Intelligence (AI) strategy through a new collaboration with HappyRobot. This partnership marks a significant step in utilizing AI agents to streamline operational communication, enhance customer experience, and boost employee engagement.

DHL Supply Chain is already deploying HappyRobot’s AI agents across various regions and scenarios for tasks such as appointment scheduling, driver follow-up calls, and high-priority warehouse coordination. The AI agents enable the autonomous management of phone and email interactions, facilitating faster, more consistent, and scalable communication.

AI is Used Strategically Across DHL Supply Chain

Sally Miller, CIO of DHL Supply Chain, commented on the strategy: “At DHL Supply Chain, as part of our structured and strategic AI approach, we have been identifying and validating operational use cases for generative AI and AI agents technologies for over 18 months. Our work is based on our extensive operational experience in data analytics, robotic process automation, and self-learning software tools. We are now integrating AI agents to deliver higher process efficiency for our customers and to make operational roles more engaging and rewarding for employees by automating repetitive and time-consuming tasks like manual data entry, routine scheduling, and standardized communication.”

DHL Supply Chain‘s current applications target managing hundreds of thousands of emails and millions of minutes of calls annually. The AI agents support critical workflows such as appointment scheduling, transport status calls, and high-priority warehouse coordination, helping teams manage operational communication at scale and with greater consistency.

AI Agents as a New Model of Work

DHL Supply Chain is already seeing measurable impacts from the implemented applications. Manual effort has been significantly reduced, responsiveness has increased, and teams are able to focus on more strategic tasks. AI agents, such as those provided by HappyRobot, automate high-volume communication workflows, helping DHL deliver faster and more customer-centric services while improving the employee work experience and contributing to long-term workforce retention.

Lindsay Bridges, Vice President of Human Resources at DHL Supply Chain, stated: “Our people are at the heart of everything we do at DHL Supply Chain. AI agents help us free up our teams from repetitive and time-consuming tasks, giving them space to focus on meaningful, high-value work. These technologies make existing roles more attractive and sustainable in today’s tight labor markets, characterized by a growing scarcity of qualified talent, while allowing us to maintain or even improve our responsiveness, customer centricity, and service consistency. This is not just operational progress; it’s a win for our employees, too.”

Buket Cox, General Manager of DHL Supply Chain Turkey, noted the successful digitalization efforts in Turkey: “At DHL Supply Chain, besides implementing global applications in our operations in Turkey, we also promote innovation in the logistics sector through our work at our R&D center, accredited by the T.R. Ministry of Industry and Technology since 2017. With our R&D center, we aim to make the logistics sector smarter, safer, and more sustainable by developing innovative solutions in many areas, from artificial intelligence to green logistics. The HappyRobot collaboration excites us about how we can optimize our processes with the rising use of AI agents.”

The HappyRobot platform enables fully autonomous AI agents to interact via phone, email, and messaging, while seamlessly integrating with DHL’s internal systems. DHL Group continues to expand its AI strategy across all departments, with more use cases being tested alongside existing pilot applications.

Pablo Palafox, CEO of HappyRobot, concluded: “At HappyRobot, we foresee AI agents coordinating global supply chain operations, not just moving data but actively managing workflows. Too often, humans are busy managing systems and inboxes, leaving little time for special cases or process improvement. DHL was an early adopter of the potential for AI agents to be a new operational layer, bringing speed, visibility, and consistency to logistics. We are proud to collaborate with such forward-thinking partners to scale this vision globally.”
