Global public transport leader Karsan made a strong impression at Busworld 2025, unveiling not one but three groundbreaking innovations. The highlight was the world premiere of the Autonomous e-JEST, the second autonomous model in Karsan’s portfolio. Alongside this, the company also launched the e-ATA Hydrogen, developed in collaboration with Toyota, and its new vision-defining ecosystem Karsan AI (Autonomous Intelligence).

A New Milestone in Autonomous Mobility

Speaking at the launch, Karsan CEO Okan Baş emphasized the significance of the Autonomous e-JEST:
“We call JEST a ‘Game changer.’ Indeed, the Karsan JEST family has rewritten the rules of the game, especially in Europe. Today, we have added its autonomous version. With 7 years of global e-JEST experience in public transport and 4 years of proven autonomous know-how with Autonomous e-ATAK, the Autonomous e-JEST brings these two success stories together. This technology has been validated in 12 cities worldwide and proven in the field. Autonomous e-JEST is not just another version; it is a reliable solution for cities born out of two remarkable journeys. With innovative design, advanced technology integration, and a sustainable approach, e-JEST has been the strongest player in urban mobility. Now, it doesn’t just transform cities—it transforms the future. We are not only producing electric vehicles anymore; we are building an autonomous intelligence that understands the rhythm of cities, thinks with passengers, and writes the culture of future mobility today. Autonomous e-JEST is not an add-on; it is the evolution of our Electric Evolution journey, capable of perceiving its environment, making instant decisions, and continuously learning. It represents the shift from the power of electricity to the freedom of intelligence.”

Technical Highlights of the Autonomous e-JEST

  • Capacity: 19 passengers

  • Powertrain: 135 kW BMW-backed electric motor

  • Battery: 105 kWh, up to 260 km range

  • Charging: 1h 20m fast charging

  • Ride comfort: Independent suspension for car-like comfort

  • Safety: 23-sensor suite including LiDAR, radar, GNSS, and cameras ensuring 360° awareness and reliable Level-4 autonomy

Three Launches, One Vision

Karsan’s strong presence at Busworld 2025 embodied its vision of being “One Step Ahead in the Future of Mobility.” The company presented:

  1. Autonomous e-JEST – bringing proven autonomous technology into the compact electric minibus segment.

  2. e-ATA Hydrogen – developed with Toyota, delivering zero emissions and long-range hydrogen-powered transport. The 12m model features 250 kW motor power, 22,000 Nm torque, 88-passenger capacity, and up to 600 km range, setting a new benchmark in sustainable mass transit.

  3. Karsan AI (Autonomous Intelligence) – a next-generation mobility ecosystem that perceives, decides, and learns in real time. Created in collaboration with ADASTEC and Applied Autonomy, Karsan AI goes beyond vehicles, offering cities an end-to-end autonomous ecosystem from production to operation.

Looking Ahead: From Electric to Intelligent Mobility

Okan Baş underlined Karsan’s broader vision:
“Cities are growing rapidly, and mobility needs are becoming more diverse. Traditional systems are no longer enough; smarter, integrated solutions are required. Autonomous e-ATAK pioneered this transformation, and now Autonomous e-JEST continues this journey. With e-JEST, we are redefining the bond between cities and mobility. It has written a strong story of dynamism, comfort, and sustainability in urban life, and now, with autonomous technology, that story evolves further. e-JEST doesn’t just lead electric mobility—it now leads the future of intelligent mobility.”

With its Autonomous e-JEST, e-ATA Hydrogen, and Karsan AI, Karsan once again proved its role as a pioneer in sustainable, intelligent, and human-centered public transportation.
