Maserati 200S Shines at 2025 Milan Design Week at LARUSMIANI Automotive Gallery

During the 2025 Milan Design Week, Maserati showcased one of its most iconic racing prototypes—the Maserati 200S—at the LARUSMIANI Automotive Gallery in the heart of Milan’s prestigious MonteNapoleone District. This special exhibition served as the Avant Première of the exclusive FuoriConcorso event, scheduled to take place on May 24–25 at Villa del Grumello and Villa Sucota by Lake Como.
Celebrating Italian elegance, craftsmanship, and forward-thinking design, the partnership between Maserati and LARUSMIANI brought together two iconic brands that represent the highest expression of Italian luxury. The event was held at LARUSMIANI’s historic flagship store on Via Pietro Verri 10, where the legendary 200S prototype captivated design enthusiasts and automotive aficionados alike.
A Symbol of Hand-Made Italian Innovation
Under the theme “Hand-Made in Italy,” the Maserati 200S exemplifies the golden era of Italian motorsport and engineering excellence. Produced between 1955 and 1957, the 200S was Maserati’s futuristic response to the demands of mid-century racing. The model featured at the exhibition is the second 200S ever built by the Modena marque, designed by Fiandri and launched in April 1956.
Powering this lightweight racer is a 1.993 cc inline-four engine inspired by the Maserati 150S. Equipped with two Weber 45 DCO3 carburetors, the unit delivers 190 horsepower at 7,400 rpm, showcasing Maserati’s engineering prowess during the era.
A Rich Racing Heritage
This particular 200S has a colorful competition history. It was driven in multiple races until May 1960 by notable Italian racing drivers such as Gilberto Cornacchia—son of the then Maserati dealer in Milan—and Mennato Boffa from Naples. After its racing career, the car remained at the Maserati factory until 1999, preserved as part of the renowned Panini Collection in Modena.
In 1999, it was sold to its current owner and underwent a complete restoration to return it to its original condition. Today, it stands as a perfect blend of history, performance, and Italian style—a tangible link to Maserati’s golden racing era.
Where Craftsmanship Meets Heritage
The collaboration between Maserati and LARUSMIANI underlines a shared dedication to timeless design, heritage, and handcrafted excellence. Both brands are ambassadors of Italian luxury, with LARUSMIANI boasting over a century of sartorial expertise and Maserati carrying a legendary legacy in automotive innovation.
As the 200S sat proudly in the LARUSMIANI gallery, it became more than a machine—it became a symbol of Italy’s ability to blend art, speed, and craftsmanship into a singular, unforgettable expression of cultural identity.
