Stellantis to Launch Biggest Investment in its History Over Next 4 Years!

Stellantis, one of the world’s largest mobility companies, is gearing up to sustain its growth in the U.S. market. The company announced a investment over the next four years, which will see 5 new vehicle launches and 19 product refreshes, increasing its U.S. production by 50%.

This new endeavor, set to create over 5,000 new jobs at facilities in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana, marks the largest single investment in the company’s 100-year history in the U.S., encompassing all its assembly plants. With this investment, the Belvidere (Illinois) plant will restart operations for the production of two new Jeep® models, while an all-new mid-size pickup model will be manufactured at the Toledo (Ohio) facility. The Warren (Michigan) plant will produce large SUV models featuring range-extender electric vehicle (EV) and internal combustion engines, and the next-generation Dodge Durango will be built in Detroit. The Kokomo (Indiana) facilities will begin producing the all-new GMET4 EVO engine.

Stellantis, one of the world’s largest mobility companies investing in every aspect of mobility, continues to strengthen its global growth campaign with new investments. Accelerating its efforts, Stellantis has announced a new investment plan for the United States (U.S.). The company will invest over the next four years to expand its operations and boost local production capacity in the U.S. This investment is the largest in the company’s 100-year history in the U.S. and will support the launch of five new vehicles in key segments, the production of a next-generation four-cylinder engine, and the creation of over 5,000 new jobs at plants in Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana.

 

Annual Vehicle Production Level to Increase by 50%!

The new investment will further expand Stellantis’s already strong U.S. presence, boosting annual vehicle production by 50% above current levels. These new product launches will run parallel with 19 planned model refreshes and powertrain updates across all U.S. assembly plants through 2029.

Massive Investment Covers Operational Processes

Stellantis’s U.S. structure encompasses 34 manufacturing facilities, parts distribution centers, and R&D locations across 14 states. These operations contribute to thousands of local communities, employing over people, partnering with dealerships, and working with approximately suppliers nationwide.

The announcement follows investments announced in January 2025. The investment plan covers capital expenditures for production operations, alongside R&D and supplier investments, to execute all phases of the company’s product strategy over the next four years.

Here are the investment details by facility:

  • Illinois: Stellantis plans to invest over to reopen the Belvidere Assembly Plant and expand the production of the Jeep® Cherokee and Jeep Compass for the U.S. market. The initial production start is expected in 2027. This investment is projected to create approximately new jobs.
  • Ohio: An investment of approximately will shift the production of the all-new mid-size pickup model, previously allocated to the Belvidere plant, to the Toledo Assembly Complex. This plant currently produces the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator models. The production change is expected to generate over new job opportunities. Production is planned to begin in 2028. The company also plans to continue investments previously announced in January for Toledo operations, including additional technologies and product enhancements for the Jeep Wrangler and Jeep Gladiator models, as well as the addition of critical new equipment for production at the Toledo Machining Plant.
  • Michigan: Stellantis plans to commence production of Range Extender Electric Vehicle (EV) and internal combustion engine large SUV models at the Warren Truck Assembly Plant by 2028, with a modernization investment of approximately at the facility. The new program is expected to create over new jobs. The plant currently produces the Jeep Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer models. Additionally, the company plans to invest for the production of the next-generation Dodge Durango at the Detroit Assembly Complex – Jefferson plant. Production is projected to start in 2029.
  • Indiana: As announced in January, the company will make additional investments in several facilities in Kokomo for the production of the all-new four-cylinder engine – the GMET4 EVO. Production will begin in 2026. This is planned to include an investment of over and the creation of over new jobs, making the U.S. the production base for this strategic powertrain.
