Ford Otosan Becomes the First Automotive Company in WEF’s Quantum Application Hub

Ford Otosan has achieved a groundbreaking milestone in innovation by becoming the first automotive manufacturer accepted into the World Economic Forum (WEF) Quantum Application Hub. The company integrated Quantum Computing technology into its production processes, revolutionizing production planning and optimization.
Recognized Among the Best at Davos
Ford Otosan’s project was selected as one of the top 13 best practices during the WEF Annual Meeting held in Davos from January 20-24, 2025. This recognition highlights the company’s commitment to innovation and global leadership in the automotive sector.
Optimizing Production with Quantum Technology
At its Gölcük Plant, Ford Otosan utilized Quantum Computing to manage the complexity of producing over 1,500 variants of the Ford Transit, for which it serves as the sole global production hub. By optimizing vehicle production sequences, the technology reduces transition times and balances workloads, increasing hourly production capacity during high-demand periods.
The system is expected to expand beyond the production line, enhancing efficiency in areas such as supply chain management and logistics. The technology aims to address supplier shipment uncertainties, reduce variant transition times, balance workforce utilization, and minimize equipment downtime, driving a transformative change in operational efficiency.
CEO Güven Özyurt Highlights the Breakthrough
Ford Otosan CEO Güven Özyurt emphasized the importance of this technological leap:
“Integrating Quantum Computing into our production processes is a testament to Ford Otosan’s unwavering commitment to innovation. This technology enables us to analyze thousands of variables and deliver solutions in minutes that would take conventional computers significantly longer. It allows us to optimize production schedules and create more flexible operations, underscoring our forward-looking vision in the global automotive industry.”
Expanding Global Lighthouse Vision to Yeniköy
Ford Otosan, recognized as part of WEF’s “Global Lighthouse Network” in 2019 for its Industry 4.0 applications at the Gölcük Plant, is now extending this vision to the Yeniköy Plant. Quantum scheduling systems will soon be implemented for Ford Custom production, with plans to optimize all production phases, including body assembly, painting, and final assembly, for end-to-end efficiency improvements.
A Global Platform for Quantum Solutions
The WEF Quantum Application Hub serves as a platform showcasing innovative projects that adopt quantum technologies, such as quantum computing, communication, and sensors. These advancements aim to enhance efficiency and create new opportunities across various industries, further solidifying the importance of quantum solutions in driving progress.
